Mac apps,finely tuned.
We make small, native apps that keep the things you care about one click away, right in your menu bar.
Meet the apps.
Each one does a single job, and does it completely. Here they are at work.
Our approach
Made the Mac way.
Every app starts with one everyday annoyance and ends when it’s gone. In between, we sweat the details the Mac taught us to care about.
Feels like they came with your Mac.
Our released apps are written in Swift and SwiftUI, with the system’s fonts, controls, shortcuts and Dark Mode, right where macOS keeps them.
Private by design.
No account needed to use them, and no analytics inside. Your headphones, printers and displays talk to your Mac directly, not through a cloud.
One job, done completely.
Each app solves one problem from end to end, then stays out of the way until you need it again.
Light on your Mac.
Small downloads that run natively on Apple silicon and Intel, then wait quietly in the menu bar until you need them.
Speaks your language.
Our released apps ship in 18 languages, from Deutsch and Español to 日本語 and 한국어.
Open source.
Our released apps are open source under the MIT license: anyone can read the code, build it and suggest a fix.
Already using one of our apps?
Meet the rest of the family. Everything you buy from us directly lives in one place: your downloads, your license keys and the Macs they’re active on.
Questions and answers.
What is Fancy Mechanisms?
An independent software studio making small, native apps for Apple platforms, the Mac first. Today that’s Open Sound Connect, Bambu Bar and Universal Display Magnet, with 2 more in development.
Which Macs do the apps run on?
All of them run natively on Apple silicon and Intel. Universal Display Magnet needs macOS 14 Sonoma or later, Open Sound Connect macOS 15 Sequoia or later, and Bambu Bar macOS 26 Tahoe or later.
Do the apps collect my data?
No. Our apps need no account to use and carry no analytics. Your devices talk to your Mac directly. The only online requests are optional update checks and, for apps bought direct, the license check.
Are the apps on the Mac App Store?
Open Sound Connect and Bambu Bar are coming to the Mac App Store. Until then, you can get them from their websites.
Do you make apps for iPhone and iPad?
We design for Apple platforms with the Mac first, and everything we ship today is for macOS. When an app makes sense on iPhone or iPad, it will appear here.
Where do I find my license key?
In your purchase account: sign in with the email you used at checkout to see your downloads, license keys and active Macs.
